Furniture Sharehouse Society is a newly established not-for-profit organization with the mission to provide essential furniture to those in need on Vancouver Island. Our initiative follows the business model of Furniture Bank, which is a charity run by volunteers that collects and distributes donated furniture to those in hardship.

Our work will focus on providing low-cost furniture to people moving into new affordable housing developments across Victoria BC. We believe that furnishing a home should not be an obstacle for those transitioning out of poverty and into stable living. As such, we will strive to make our services readily available and accessible without financial burden.

To ensure quality control throughout the whole process of distributing donated furniture, Furniture Sharehouse Society is looking to lease a warehouse and a Box Truck so that items can be safely collected and transported at reduced costs. Furthermore, we have developed policies regarding item pick up/drop off times; storage requirements; transportation standards; staff training; health & safety regulations; deadlines & tracking system; and donation processing protocols – all of which serve as key elements in providing efficient services to our clients while maintaining high quality standards across all activities associated with the organization’s mission
